She cries.

At the death of day

At the corner of this 4-walled room

Just as the sun was about to set

She sits silently

In a trance

And lost in her thoughts

Then

Tears

As if on cue

She cries.

She cradles herself

Rocking back and forth

She clasps both her hands

Pretending the other was his

Her eyes anxiously paces

Scanning the dimly-lit place

Empty

She cries.

She knows not to whom those tears were for

She knows not why those tears were shed

She just had to

RAGE

FRUSTRATION

HOPELESSNESS

FEAR

PEACE…yes, peace

She cries.

Then at the dead of the night

She took one last glance

Gazed at the stars

Gave a sigh of relief

Took one deep breath

And looked at herself in the mirror

I shall have my peace tonight

Tears turned red

Water turned blood

I shall have my peace tonight

She cries…no more.
